Measuring guides for kilt If you are new to buy a kilt online and want to measure yourself for it, then read our step by step guide to get the best fit kilt for your better experience. Why it's necessary to measure before buying!! Well, it's good to measure before rather buying the wrong size and returning the product for another size. Further, in jeans industry manufacturer has their standards to measure and a short or jeans pant doesn’t reflect your actual waist to best fit because kilt size is larger than your pants size!! Don’t annoy for the information you can get proof of it to measure yourself. So, in 3-4 steps, we will guide you how you can measure your body for your 1st kilt. All you need is a pen, one page, and a measuring tape if you don’t have assistant no problem you can measure yourself quickly. We need your three sizes for kilt 1) Your waist size 2) Your hip size 3) Your kilt length 4) Fell measurement (optional) 1- Waist Size Start with the 1st or waist size, put tape around your body at the point of your waist or belly button or where you are planning to fasten your kilt. Normally a kilt should be at the belly button, but it’s totally up to you how you want to wear it. So measure the point with normal breath (our kilts has little losing for best fitting) and write on the page either in inches or cm to update in your order. *Note: It will probably be 2 to 4 inches more than your pants size. It is common. *TIP: BIG guys with large bellies may want to wear the kilt around the naval, as it gives a more flattering appearance. 2- Hip Size Moving further measure your hips at widest point, it’s very easy to measure for that. Why it’s necessary to give hips size?? It’s an interesting answer, while we manufacture your kilt we must know either you have normal hips size or not!! Because if your hips cannot fit in your kilt that would be so embarrassing and uncomfortable to wear in public. Because we manufacture a made to order kilt so, we take care of each step to manufacture. 3- Length Size At 3rd step, you need to measure your kilt’s length which means how long your kilt will hang while standing on your legs. People wear as per their choice, but a kilt should hang till your knee cap (but it’s not a standard at all its totally up to your choice). But be sure that your starting point is from your waist point or where you plan to fasten your kilt. So it will be a length from your waist till your knee cap or what so ever you want. The standard length of kilt or drop length of the kilt is 24” in a male case and 20” in female case, but you are designing your kilt it’s up to youJ. 4- Fell measurement Heading to end the kilt size guide the last point is your fell measurement. Don’t know what is fell?? Well, Fell is measured from your point of waist till your hips (in the picture you can easily understand that) some people want that their kilt should stay with their body rather roomy or airy like fittings of pants at hips so if you will update your fell measurement you can fulfill this requirement as well. Most of the time a Fell measurement is not that necessary because most of the kilts are manufactured as per standard fell measurement which is 5-7 inches as per total length of the kilt.

Yeah, I know you have to be careful how you sit, but this light weight cotton fabric really, really creases terribly.
Because it is so light, the pleats do not lie down, in spite of having the crease itself sewn in. It looks like I’m carrying a balloon under the kilt! You need to be really conscious of this and keep smoothing the damn thing down. I think this is going to take a lot of ironing, and probably some starch, too.

I’m just glad that I read the other reviewers point about ignoring your trouser size and measuring yourself around your stomach, just under your navel. This is the second kilt we have ordered and it’s really nice. It’s made out of 50/50 rip stop and has plenty of fittings to either hook or attached quite a bit of gear. My brother was pleased to see good riveting and the all important fasteners were anchored. I wouldn’t really advise using this kilt for roof or ladder work but you certainly wouldn’t worry about it tearing.

This is my go-to kilt for most activities. Very few Asians can pull off looking good in a kilt, but I rock mine like I was born for it. The snap closures are very secure and stay in place when I’m training martial arts, sparring, working out, etc. It’s made from similar material as my 5.11 TD kilt but has more pleats so they hang nicely and creates a nice swoosh when I’m moving about. it’s very secure, I feel really good wearing it. Lots of flexibility.

This kilt is the best!!! I just love it. The fit is awesome. Looks awesome, cargo pockets placement makes i a little hard to access the trouser pockets. But I found the trick to make it easier.
If you made them in other colors I would probably buy each one.

I measured as you would for any kilt; around the abdomen, not the hips where sit. it came in about a week later. it is actually a nice quality material, not too heavy, not too light. it looks cargo pockets. I’ve washed and hang dried mine, so ironing is necessary, but wow! what a great kilt. I got lots of compliments on mine. If you’re gonna wear a kilt, ya gotta own it with confidence! I would definitely buy this one again.

This is really a comfortable kilt. The material is lightweight and not stiff like a other kilt. So the pleats fixed. It sways with you when you walk, and that feels good. My only complaint is the lack of pockets, and the size of the only two that are on there. A kilt like this deserves some POCKETS!

This is the kilt we have ordered and it’s really nice. It’s made out of tactical fabric and has plenty of fittings . My father was pleased to see good looking , good quality ,good quality fabric and the all important fasteners . I start by saying I have Kilt that I love. Tactical kilt is in size Large and fit great, good looking and best quality fabric. I bought the tactical kilt in size Large size. It was about 3 inches too small. With a belt the webbing would bunch and not feel great on long hikes. So, I returned that kilt and ordered the large/medium. That kilt was medium by about an inch. This is what I found, your milage may very.

Fits okay. I measure a 43, so I ordered a 44, but that was too small. They exchanged it no hassle for the 45, which is still just a hair small. But I’m sure a 44 would be too big. The “adjustment” straps for the belt are mostly good.
But those are little things. That’s why it’s getting five instead of four stars. I love it and am still going to wear it. I get lots of compliments on it when I do.

I have many kilts from online store and these stores are handful. This one is my least best kilt. It looks and feels good according to price. It’s good fabric than cloth to the touch. I fear the stitching will break free in a stiff wind.
As for the size, I order all the kilts the accurate size. This one is a tight. I would add an additional 1 size from normal.

If you measure the according to the description detail, you can’t do wrong with the size. The pockets are great but due to blocks in pockts you cant put more things .
